Wednesday Giveaway - How To Choose A Translation For All It's Worth

Categories Theology

HTCTFAIW I have quite a few Bibles, more than I need really. I’d guess seven translations in physical books, and a couple dozen more in digital form. I suppose that’s one of the joys of seminary, everyone assumes another Bible is the perfect gift for any occasion.

There are advantages to having so many versions to compare, but there is a downside as well. Which one do I use as my primary Bible? Years of switching between versions and I’m still not settled on one. Choosing a translation is not a simple task.

To help those of us facing that choice Gordon Fee and Mark Strauss collaborated on How To Choose A Translation For All It’s Worth, which we are featuring as today’s giveaway.

How To Choose A Translation For All It’s Worth explains how different translations come about, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and which are fitted to particular readers and tasks.

This book has been endorsed by scholars such as Darrell Bock and Tremper Longman III, as well as D.A. Carson who graciously stated that “for courtesy to all sides, accuracy in technical matters, clarity of writing, a deep commitment to faithful rendering of the original, and an abundant supply of that least common gift ‘common sense,’ this is the book on translation that deserves widest circulation”

There are two copies of How To Choose A Translation For All It’s Worth to give out and the giveaway will run through Thursday.

To enter simply comment below with your answer to this question: Which translation of the Bible do you turn to most often?

Best of luck!
