Coming Soon: Historical Theology by Gregg Allison

Categories Theology

Historical Theology Coming in March, students of Christian thought will have available an excellent and in depth new volume - Historical Theology: An Introduction to Christian Doctrine.

Written by Gregg Allison, professor of Christian Theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, this book seeks to address the central tenets of the faith in a topical-chronological order.

Within each theological topic Dr. Allison traces the historical development that the doctrine took, examining everything from Athanasius on the Incarnation to Barth on Election.

The format should look quite familiar to those who have used Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology in the classroom or to assist personal study. This is intentional, as Historical Theology is meant to be a companion volume to Systematic Theology as well as a stand alone resource.

A massive volume, filled with fascinating details and primary sources, Allison's project comes at a time when many are looking to reexamine the foundations of the faith. In that quest, we are excited to present Historical Theology as an excellent entryway into these studies of the development of Christian doctrine.

Side Note: For fans of Systematic Theology, you may be interested to know it is now available for download on Logos Bible Software!
