Wednesday Giveaway - John Wesley's Teachings Volume Two

Categories Theology

John Wesleys Teachings Vol 2A few weeks ago we gave away volume one of John Wesley's
Teachings
. Today, you have a chance to win volume two of this important
new series by Thomas Oden.

In this second volume, Oden shares Wesley's writings on the
doctrines of Christ and Salvation.

Though Wesley was not afraid to challenge
tradition, Oden suggests that on these matters, in particular Christology, he
followed closely in the tradition of the Reformers.

“Wesley at no point hinted that there is a needed purification,
progression, or remodeling of ancient ecumenical christological definitions. There
is very little of that in magisterial Protestantism. The Reformers gladly
accepted ancient ecumenical definitions of the apostolic church, and Wesley followed
in their steps.”

To enter the giveaway, comment below with your answer to
this question: C.S. Lewis suggested that for every new book we read, we
should then pick up an old one. What is the ratio in your reading (approximately)
of new books compared to older classics?

Also, a bonus entry is available if you
comment a second time letting us know that you shared a link to this giveaway
on Facebook, Twitter, or your blog.
