Wednesday Giveaway - The New Testament in Antiquity
This week’s
giveaway is a personal favorite, The New Testament in Antiquity!
I used it as a
textbook in a NT survey class, and found it to be an excellent resource which I now
often turn to in my personal studies and when preparing to teach or write.
Written by Gary
Burge, Lynn Cohick, and Gene Green, The New Testament in Antiquity is an engaging,
academically informed, and beautifully illustrated book. In addition, this survey has a unique focus on the historical and cultural background of the New Testament,
setting the narrative of early Christianity within the context of both the
Greco-Roman world and Second Temple Judaism.
In the video below the
three authors discuss why they wrote this book and what sets it apart as a
resource for students of the New Testament.
To enter the giveaway, comment below with your
answer to this question: Coins are a reoccurring theme in the book. What
might these coins tell us about the story of the New Testament era?
Also, a bonus entry is available if you
comment a second time letting us know that you shared a link to this giveaway
on Facebook, Twitter, or your blog.
