Z Book Around the Web - Credo Magazine and Messianic Judaism
The latest issue of Credo Magazine features two reviews of
new releases from Zondervan Academic. [You can access the digital version here]
In the first review, page 62, Fred Zaspel gives a nice
overview of Understanding Biblical Theology.
“Understanding Biblical Theology is a most helpful
introductory text, and each approach is presented clearly with relative
simplicity. And this in under 200 pages! And as far as I am aware, there is
nothing else like it — it fills a needed niche. And for the many of us who do
not specialize in BT, this book serves as a helpful map of the territory.”
Later, page 68, Zaspel reviews Con Campbell’s Paul and Union
with Christ.
“Campbell’s exposition of this marvelous theme is a genuine
contribution to the study that leaves us in his debt. Combining thorough
exegetical analysis and clear, simple theological precision, future discussion
is now set on firmer ground. And certainly no pastor or teacher will want to
expound Paul’s epistles without this helpful aid close at hand.”
Also Derek Leman has been doing a series interacting with
Introduction to Messianic Judaism. In part four he discusses the nature of a Messianic
Jewish synagogue.
“How are Messianic Jewish synagogues different from
mainstream synagogues? The authors list three primary differences:- the centrality of Yeshua
- the prominent place of the New Testament
- the presence of Gentile followers of Yeshua who come
alongside Messianic Jews”
