Los Angeles Theology Conference 2014: A Call for Papers on Trinitarian Theology

Categories Theology

Last year, Zondervan partnered with Biola University and Fuller Theological Seminary to launch the inaugural annual Los Angeles Theology Conference. LATC is an annual international conference concerned with the discussion and explication of Christian doctrine. It is a self-consciously ecumenical endeavor that seeks to resource contemporary systematic theology through high-quality published outputs associated with the conference themes.

The first annual Los Angeles Theology Conference sought to make a positive contribution to contemporary dogmatics in intentional engagement with the Christian tradition, beginning with Christology. We are excited to release papers from this conference at the end of the month in a new book, Christology, Ancient and Modern: Explorations in Constructive Dogmatics. We are also thrilled to announce a call for papers for the 2nd annual LATC next January.

The 2nd Annual Los Angeles Theology Conference will be held on January 16-17, 2014 on the campus of Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. The theme of the conference is “Advancing Trinitarian Theology: Explorations in Constructive Dogmatics” and the plenary sessions feature Lewis Ayres (Durham University), Stephen R. Holmes (University of St. Andrews), Karen Kilby (Durham University), Thomas H. McCall (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), and Fred Sanders (Biola University).

Those with completed doctorate degrees are invited to submit paper proposals on this year’s theme. The focus of the conference is on constructive or systematic theology, rather than upon exegesis, the history of doctrine, or social scientific approaches to religion. Papers that engage the theological tradition as a means of theological retrieval are most welcome.

Abstracts of no more than 200 words should be sent to before October 11, 2013. An acceptable paper will be approximately 3,500 words (to be delivered in 35 minutes with 5–10 minutes for Q&A).

We look forward to another year of thoughtful, thought-provoking sessions from some of the leading theologians in their fields, and hope you'll join us.
