"Why Is the Historical Adam Debate Important?" Matthew Barrett Explains

Last December Zondervan Academic released a highly anticipated views book addressing one of the hottest subjects in the Church right now: The existence of an historical Adam.
Four Views on the Historical Adam clearly outlines four primary views on Adam held by evangelicals and features some of the leading scholarly voices, including Denis O. Lamoureux, John H. Walton, C. John Collins, and William Barrick.
Though such a subject might be fine for ETS and SBL, why engage it as a pastor or in the classroom?
Matthew Barrett, associate professor and editor of the book, explains in the above video: "Because it has everything to do with our view of Scripture, how we understand redemptive history; and whether we think the biblical authors got Adam right or wrong."
He goes on to explain why this subject is a pivotal one, and how this book thoughtfully addresses it.
