My Advice to Students — John Franke Says, "Be Open" and "Never Forget Christianity 101"
(Can't see the video? Watch it here)
Graduate academic work is fraught with many challenges, not least of which is how we engage new ideas and the people who bear them.
Which is why today's advice is so important.
John Franke, contributor to Five Views on Biblical Inerrancy, has some sound advice to help you navigate ideas that might be different than your own:
- "Maintain a sense of openness to new ideas and develop a curiosity." Franke maintains if the God revealed in Jesus is who we evangelicals say He is, then we have freedom to explore.
- "Never forget the importance of...Christianity 101." Franke says Christianity 101 calls us to treat people who are different from us with dignity and respect, particularly those who have different ideas than ours.
Listen to Franke to help you prepare for academic work with openness and kindness this fall.
