Who wrote Jonah?
The book of Jonah is anonymous. We really don't have any idea who wrote it and the book doesn't really offer any clues as to who might have written it.
Of course, a story like this is the kind of story that likely would have originated with the person it's about. That doesn't necessarily mean that Jonah wrote the book.
It means that this was a story that he related, that meant something to him and that it was, that was preserved in oral tradition until someone at some point decided that it was an important enough story, a good enough story that deserved to be written down and preserved for future generations.
I don't know who that was but I can tell you this. Whoever it was, knew what he or she was doing because this is a very well-written story. The degree of literary sophistication is unbelievable. The level of artistry attained is remarkable and you'll enjoy it.
