  • Provides a complete overview and analysis of each term
  • All Hebrew words occurring 10 times or more
  • All Aramaic words occurring 5 times or more

Praise for Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic Dictionary

"The special feature of this unique lexicon is the provision of abundant contexts from Scripture, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and ancient inscriptions. This feature as well as several others make this lexicon to an excellent learning tool for Bible students."
—Emanuel Tov, J. L. Magnes Professor of Bible, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

"In this valuable resource, Duke provides a new, original, and helpful tool for learning, developing, and enhancing the acquisition of biblical Hebrew and putting the language in its larger context.  It should be used and appreciated by generations of Hebrew students."
—William Schniedewind, professor of biblical studies and Northwest Semitic languages, UCLA

"Robert Duke has written a superb dictionary geared for the intermediate student of Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic. The project is well conceived, the layout is very user-friendly, and the biblical data are enhanced by extra-biblical material from Iron Age inscriptions, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Elephantine papyri. The result is a most welcome addition to the array of pedagogical tools available to both the seasoned scholar and the college or seminary student still making his or her way through the intricacies of Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic."
—Gary A. Rendsburg, distinguished professor of Jewish studies, Rutgers University

"Any resource that serves to advance students in the biblical languages is to be welcomed by both instructors and students. The extra biblical Hebrew citations in this volume will set this resource apart from other introductory and intermediate tools."
—Miles V. Van Pelt, professor of Old Testament and biblical languages, director of the Summer Institute for Biblical Languages, Reformed Theological Seminary

"Serious students exploring biblical languages are trained to be attentive to context. This book offers a unique and accessible aid for the study of Hebrew and Aramaic lexicography within context."
—Adam Miglio, professor of Old Testament and archaeology, Wheaton College

"Finally! A dictionary that categorizes biblical Hebrew and Aramaic vocabulary as "real words," according to how they are used in the language, not as derivatives of root letters. Also ingenious is including sample sentences from more than just the Hebrew Bible, and preserving the Paleo Hebrew script for texts that utilized it. Students can now internalize vocabulary not just as part of a linguistic system but as language that communicates, while simultaneously being exposed to a greater breadth of the available Hebrew and Aramaic corpus up until the early Roman period. Brilliant!"
—Brian Schultz, professor of biblical and theological Studies, Fresno Pacific University
