An Update on MasterLectures: New Videos, a Podcast, and Free Previews

It’s been a busy few months at MasterLectures. With so much going on, it’s easy to lose track of what’s been happening. That’s why we’re providing a quick roundup of what you might have missed in the past few months, plus a preview of some upcoming projects.

7 new lecture series

Here are a few of the new video lecture series we’ve released in the past few months. Remember, MasterLectures is an always-growing library of high-quality video lectures. You get unlimited access to all videos, no matter how big the library gets. That means there’s always something new to learn.

1. Four Views on the Apostle Paul

In the Four Views on the Apostle Paul series, four leading scholars present their views on the best framework for describing Paul's theological perspective, including his view of salvation, the significance of Christ, and his vision for the churches. You’ll get lectures from Thomas R. Schreiner, Luke Timothy Johnson, Douglas A. Campbell, and Mark D. Nanos, plus an introductory and concluding lecture by Michael F. Bird.

2. Faith Alone: The Doctrine of Justification, taught by Thomas R. Schreiner

In the Faith Alone series, renowned biblical scholar Thomas Schreiner looks at the historical and biblical roots of the doctrine of justification by faith. He summarizes the history of the doctrine, looking at the early church and the writings of several of the Reformers. His sessions take learners through examination of key texts in the Old and New Testaments and introduce some of the contemporary challenges to the Reformation teaching of sola fide.

3. Five Views on Biblical Inerrancy

The Five Views on Biblical Inerrancy series showcases the spectrum of evangelical positions on inerrancy and facilitates understanding of these perspectives, particularly where and why they diverge. It features lectures on inerrancy from Al Mohler, Kevin Vanhoozer, Michael Bird, Peter Enns, and John Franke, plus an introductory lecture by James R.A. Merrick and a concluding lecture by Stephen M. Garrett.

4. Know the Heretics, taught by Justin S. Holcomb

In the Know the Heretics series, scholar and author Justin Holcomb provides an accessible "travel guide" to the most significant heresies throughout Christian history. Each lecture covers a simple explanation of the unorthodox teaching, the orthodox response, and reflections of contemporary relevance for application in today's world. 5. 1, 2, 3 John, taught by Karen H. Jobes

In this 19-part video series, Karen H. Jobes provides you with an in-depth study of 1, 2, and 3 John. In addition to getting an overview of the letters—who wrote them, to whom they were written, and the historical and cultural setting—you will also examine each letter verse-by-verse.

6. Searching for God

In Searching for God, leading Christian apologists such as Lee Strobel, J. Warner Wallace, and William Lane Craig examine commonly held beliefs about religion and offer enduring, persuasive reasons to trust in the God of the Bible. This series, narrated by filmmaker Brandon McGuire and featuring top Christian thinkers and apologists, explores questions such as: What is Christianity? What are some of the ideas that have influenced the way people think about it? And is there any evidence for God?

7. Encountering the Holy Land: A Video Introduction to the History and Geography of the Bible, taught by Carl G. Rasmussen

Encountering the Holy Land is a unique visual overview of the lands of the Bible, shot on location in Israel and Egypt and narrated by respected Bible history and geography scholar Carl G. Rasmussen. It’s your guided tour to the places behind the stories of the Bible. Below is a preview, and you can also watch the first session free.

The MasterLectures Podcast

We also recently launched the MasterLectures podcast, which features the audio from some of the most-watched lectures. In each episode, you’ll find thoughtful reflections on the Bible, theology, apologetics, Christian history, evangelism, and ministry.
