What is Majority Text Theory?
The Majority Text theory is quite different from those who embrace the textus receptis. Although often they are mingled together.
Majority text means that the manuscripts that are in the majority of any given place in the text, should be preferred over the earlier manuscripts that are typically far, and fewer in number. And part of the reason they're fewer in number is they're older, they've disappeared. But they also come from a different region.
The later manuscripts that are in the majority are much closer to each other. There are few scholars within the academy that do believe the majority text is closer to the original than the earlier manuscripts with greater diversity.
On a popular level, the majority text has influenced a number of people. But in scholarly circles, not really very many. You could put them on one hand, a handful of them.
